Bill Mulcahy founded Mulcahy Consulting with the vision to save companies money and time by providing them with executive level strategic and risk advice.

Prior to starting his own business in 2008, Bill was the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) of Emory University including Emory Healthcare with full responsibility for planning, leading and executing the audit program for the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration. Bill is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Bill earned his CPA early in his career with the then great firm of Arthur Andersen & Co.  Bill has maintained his CPA license "active" throughout the subsequent years with 40 hours per year of Continuing Professional Education. 

Bill is a Board member since 2005 and former President/Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Atlanta as well as the namesake and winner of its annual “William J. Mulcahy – Excellence through Leadership Award” and the annual "Bill Mulcahy Audit and Advisory Case Competition".

Prior Civic and Professional Board Service includes:

  • National Board Member, including President of the Board (2001) of the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors, and winner of their top award the Founder's Award in 2004.  
  • Founding Chair (2006 to 2018) of the Board of the Kennesaw State University Internal Audit Center of Excellence, taking it from no ranking to rated in top seven Centers in the world.
  • Community Friendship Inc, an agency serving the homeless and mentally ill serving, as Board member 17 years including President two years, and their 1994 and 2004 Distinguished Service Award winner.
  • Emory Federal Credit Union – Board member for ten years including Treasurer for two years.
